LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jon Bumstead, who represents the 32nd Senate District, last week accepted the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses Regional Heritage Award for the Midwest. The award was given by the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation during the 22nd Annual NASC Sportsman‑Legislator Summit in Memphis, Tennessee.
Bumstead was honored with the award in recognition of his work throughout his career to fight for sportsmen, defend Americans’ hunting and fishing heritage, and protect U.S. natural resources.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by legislators from across the country for our work to protect our great outdoors and preserve access to hunting and fishing for generations to come,” said Bumstead, R-Norton Shores.
Bumstead also spoke at the summit about his legislation to allow hunter education and firearm safety to be taught in schools.
The NASC Sportsman-Legislator Summit is the premier annual gathering for state legislative sportsmen’s caucus members and partners from across the country. It serves as the leading forum for focused discussion, collaboration and the development of strategies to protect and advance the interests of America’s sportsmen and women in state legislatures.
The 2025 summit brought together over 320 attendees, including 85 legislators from 25 states, state and federal agency leaders, conservation organizations and outdoor industry professionals.
