Muskegon Casino

Friends,

The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians casino project was approved by the federal government after several years of consideration. Unfortunately, this past June, Governor Whitmer denied the Muskegon casino, stating that she wanted to know if the Department of Interior would grant federal recognition to another West Michigan tribe, halting any further progress of this project.

Fortunately, the Department of Interior recently invited the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians to resubmit an application for the Muskegon casino.

As the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians looks to resubmit their application for this project, I am hopeful that Governor Whitmer will approve the casino this time around. This project would provide a huge economic boost to Muskegon County and the West Michigan region. The casino would provide 1,500 construction jobs and 1,500 high-paying, full-time jobs and countless spin offs.

I have been a constant supporter of the casino project, and I have been encouraging the governor to approve the plan so that construction of this major facility could promptly begin.

Governor Whitmer needs to hear from you about the positive impact that this casino will have on Muskegon County. I strongly encourage you to provide your contact information as well as your specific comments that we can pass along to Governor Whitmer to encourage her to support the casino in Muskegon County.

Sincerely,

Jon Bumstead
State Senator
34th District
