Sen. Bumstead celebrates defending tax cut for all Michiganders

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Jon Bumstead, R-North Muskegon, on Tuesday released the following statement applauding a successful effort to guarantee an upcoming automatic state income tax rollback due to all Michigan taxpayers:

“I am proud of my Senate colleagues who stood our ground to ensure that all Michiganders will finally begin receiving tax relief they need. By going to the governor’s desk without immediate effect, this scheme to deny a permanent tax rollback to millions of Michigan taxpayers has been effectively defeated.

“Too many people across our state are struggling with the increased costs of everyday essentials while our government sits on a $9 billion surplus. I hope we can now work toward common ground on future inflation relief policies to help improve the financial health of all our residents and put efforts to pick winners and losers behind us. All Michiganders should be winners.”
