Bumstead attends groundbreaking at Muskegon Heights affordable housing development

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Jon Bumstead on Monday attended a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of a new affordable housing development in Muskegon Heights.

“This is an exciting day for Muskegon Heights, to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new, affordable housing development for the first time in many years,” said Bumstead, R-North Muskegon. “This ceremony was the culmination of years of planning and hard work by a group of very dedicated and determined residents, officials and developers who believe strongly in improving affordable housing opportunities in the city. Projects like these give hope and a new light into the city and I am excited to see the domino effect this will have on Muskegon Heights.”

The development project falls under the umbrella of Reaching NEW Muskegon Heights, a comprehensive vision and strategy for the city of Muskegon Heights that includes additional projects under development.

“I am proud to represent the city of Muskegon Heights and look forward to seeing the continued growth and development in this community,” Bumstead said. “My thanks to Phyllis Loudermill, City Manager Troy Bell, and every city council member for their hard work and dedication to Muskegon Heights.”
